Die Pink Floyd-Tributeband echoes trägt dieses legendäre Erbe jedoch weiter. Und das in einer runderneuerten, frischen Besetzung. Für Konstanz und höchstes Niveau garantieren weiterhin die beiden Bandgründer, die das Pink Floyd Tribute-Flaggschiff echoes seit inzwischen drei Jahrzehnten (!) und weit über 500 Konzerten in zwölf Ländern erfolgreich auf Kurs halten. Europaweit einzigartig.
Besonders spannend: Für den Gitarrenpart von David Gilmour konnte man keinen Geringeren als den deutschen Ausnahme-Gitarristen Dennis Hormes gewinnen. Fans von echoes durften in den letzten Jahren schon Kostproben seines fantastischen Könnens erleben, wenn er als Gastmusiker bei echoes dabei war. Es ist absolut faszinierend, wie er sich das Werk von David Gilmour auf neue und höchst virtuose Art zu eigen macht – ab sofort allerdings nicht mehr als Gast, sondern als neues Zentralgestirn in den floydianischen Klangwelten von echoes. Dabei bringt Dennis Hormes Fähigkeiten mit ein, die Pink Floyd ursprünglich ausgezeichnet haben und am Ende vielleicht etwas verloren gegangen bzw. zu kurz gekommen sind: Einen offenen Geist, Kreativität und Improvisationsfreude – ohne dabei Komplexität, Erhabenheit und Geist von Pink Floyd zu vernachlässigen.
echoes nehmen ihr Publikum mit auf eine höchst emotionale Reise zur dunklen Seite des Mondes, von „Ummagumma“ über „Meddle“, „Dark Side of the Moon“, „Wish You Were Here“, „Animals“ und „The Wall“, bis hin zur Post-Waters-Ära. Neben einem umfassenden „Best of Pink Floyd“ kommen dabei auch so manche fast schon in Vergessenheit geratene Werke wieder zu Gehör.
Und dennoch ist ein echoes-Konzert kein Nostalgie-Trip. Vielmehr zeigt die Band mit immenser Spielfreude, Liebe zum Detail, druckvollem Sound und viel Respekt vor dem Original, dass die komplexen Pink Floyd-Epen heute noch genauso faszinierend und aktuell sind wie zur Zeit ihrer Entstehung – zeitlos eben.
echoes präsentieren ein eigens für sie entworfenes, knapp dreistündiges Spektakel, das auch dem audiovisuellen Aspekt der gigantischen Konzerte von Pink Floyd gerecht wird. Perfekter, druckvoller und transparenter Livesound, eine aufwändige Lightshow mit zahlreichen intelligenten Scheinwerfern, computergesteuerte Videoprojektionen und zahlreiche weitere Elemente der Original-Shows von Pink Floyd unterstützen die epische Musik und garantieren ein absolut außergewöhnliches und einzigartiges Live-Erlebnis.
Die Presse-Echo(e)s fielen in den letzten Jahren dementsprechend aus: „Es ist ein Spektakel“ schreibt die Süddeutsche Zeitung. Ein „Monumentales Konzert“ bescheinigt der Hanauer Anzeiger, „Einfach zu schön“ findet es die WAZ und sogar „Fast unheimlich“ die Allgäuer Zeitung. „Echoes bewiesen, dass sie auserwählt sind“ bilanziert die GNZ, das Main Echo feiert „Die Kopie als Gesamtkunstwerk“. Und geradezu euphorisch fällt das Fazit der Rheinpfalz aus: „Das kann man kaum besser machen. Echoes haben alle Erwartungen erfüllt und zollten ihren Helden einen Tribut, der nicht abwechslungsreicher, wagemutiger und perfekter hätte sein können.“

However, the Pink Floyd tribute band echoes carries on this legendary legacy. And it does so with a new, fresh line-up. The two band founders, who have successfully kept the Pink Floyd tribute flagship echoes on course for three decades (!) and well over 500 concerts in twelve countries, continue to guarantee consistency and the highest level of quality. Unique in Europe.
What is particularly exciting is that none other than the exceptional German guitarist Dennis Hormes has been recruited to play David Gilmour’s guitar part. Fans of echoes have already been able to experience samples of his fantastic skills in recent years when he was a guest musician at echoes. It is absolutely fascinating how he makes the work of David Gilmour his own in a new and highly virtuoso way – from now on, however, no longer as a guest, but as the new central star in the Floydian sound worlds of echoes. Dennis Hormes brings with him the skills that originally characterized Pink Floyd and which may have been somewhat lost or neglected in the end: An open mind, creativity and the joy of improvisation – without neglecting the complexity, grandeur and spirit of Pink Floyd.
echoes take their audience on a highly emotional journey to the dark side of the moon, from „Ummagumma“ to „Meddle“, „Dark Side of the Moon“, „Wish You Were Here“, „Animals“ and „The Wall“, right through to the post-Waters era. In addition to a comprehensive „Best of Pink Floyd“, some works that have almost been forgotten will also be heard again.
And yet an echoes concert is no nostalgia trip. Instead, the band demonstrates with immense enthusiasm, attention to detail, a powerful sound and great respect for the original that the complex Pink Floyd epics are just as fascinating and relevant today as they were when they were written – timeless, in fact.
echoes present an almost three-hour spectacle specially designed for them, which also does justice to the audiovisual aspect of Pink Floyd’s gigantic concerts. Perfect, powerful and transparent live sound, an elaborate light show with numerous intelligent spotlights, computer-controlled video projections and numerous other elements of Pink Floyd’s original shows support the epic music and guarantee an absolutely extraordinary and unique live experience.
The press-echoes have been correspondingly positive in recent years: „It’s a spectacle“ writes the Süddeutsche Zeitung. The Hanauer Anzeiger described it as a „monumental concert“, the WAZ found it „simply too beautiful“ and the Allgäuer Zeitung even called it „almost uncanny“. „Echoes proved that they are the chosen ones“ summarizes the GNZ, the Main Echo celebrates „The copy as a total work of art“. And the Rheinpfalz was almost euphoric in its conclusion: „You can hardly do better than that. Echoes fulfilled all expectations and paid tribute to their heroes in a way that couldn’t have been more varied, daring or perfect.“
