„Frohe Weihnachten und alles Gute für das neue Jahr“ – seit 25 Jahren richten wir diesen Wunsch kurz vor Weihnachten an euch. Wir geben zu: Über die Jahre ist das zu einer freundlichen Routine geworden, bei der wir uns nicht mehr allzu viel gedacht haben. Doch das zu Ende gehende Jahr hat uns schonungslos gezeigt, dass alte Gewissheiten und Routinen nicht selbstverständlich sind, sondern jäh durchbrochen werden können.
Zunächst einmal hoffen wir, dass es euch und euren Lieben gut geht. Auch das ist ja, gerade in diesen Zeiten, keine Selbstverständlichkeit. Und auch wenn man vom Virus bisher verschont geblieben ist, dürften nicht wenige an ihre Belastungsgrenzen gestoßen sein. Sei es bei der Arbeit, bei der Kinderbetreuung oder aufgrund von Existenz- und Zukunftsängsten.
Vieles davon hat auch uns betroffen, nachdem im März der gesamten Veranstaltungsbranche abrupt der Stecker gezogen wurde. Unser Jubiläumsjahr, für das wir einige Highlights geplant hatten, schrumpfte auf ein einziges kleines Lebenszeichen zusammen: Den im Mai aus dem Colos-Saal in Aschaffenburg gesendeten Livestream. Tatsächlich haben wir uns als Band seitdem nur noch auf Bildschirmen gesehen. Frustrierend.
Trotzdem ist uns bewusst, dass wir auf sehr hohem Niveau jammern und dass es uns immer noch deutlich besser geht, als einem Großteil der Menschen auf diesem Planeten. Und inzwischen hat die Politik auch erkannt, dass Kultur durchaus auch seine systemrelevanten Aspekte hat – nicht nur in wirtschaftlicher Hinsicht. Jetzt, wo die Kultur uns allen so schmerzlich fehlt, erkennen wir vielleicht erst wirklich ihre Relevanz. Sie ist wichtig für Gesellschaften und ihre Menschen, zum Ausgleich, für die Seele, für ein unbeschwertes Sich-Fallen-Lassen, als Herausforderung für Herz und Verstand, als Antwort, als Hilfe in schwierigen Zeiten. Vielleicht ist Kultur sogar etwas, was Zivilisation überhaupt erst entstehen lässt?
Wir möchten uns bei allen bedanken, die den Kulturbetrieb in seinem vielleicht schwersten Jahr so toll unterstützt haben. Die ihre Tickets nicht zurückgegeben haben, die gespendet haben, die Künstler durch den Kauf von Alben oder Merchandise-Artikeln unterstützt haben. All diese Hilfe wurde auch uns zuteil. Aber es waren auch die aufmunternden Worte, die uns durch das ganze Jahr auf den verschiedensten Wegen erreicht haben und noch immer erreichen. Diese Solidarität hat uns tief beeindruckt und gestärkt. Dafür nochmal ein ganz herzliches Dankeschön!
Auch wenn uns die Pandemie im Moment so hart trifft wie noch nie, die Zahlen wohl ausgerechnet zu Weihnachten ihren Peak erreichen werden, wir auf unbestimmte Zeit im Lockdown sitzen und beunruhigende Meldungen aus Krankenhäusern und von Mutationen unseren Alltag dominieren – es gibt Hoffnung am Horizont. Der Impfstoff ist die wohl wichtigste Waffe, die wir gegen das Virus in die Hand bekommen haben. Er könnte der Schlüssel zur Tür mit der Aufschrift „Ausgang“ sein. Raus aus dieser bleiernen Zeit, hinein in ein Leben, das diesen Namen wieder verdient.
Der Weg dahin ist noch weit. Bis einschließlich Mai sind nun erst einmal alle unsere Konzerte abgesagt bzw. verlegt (eine Übersicht findet ihr hier) – mit einer Ausnahme: Am 10.04.2021 werden wir in der Stadthalle Soest mit Hygienekonzept und Abstand ein Sitzplatzkonzert spielen – wenn es der weitere Pandemieverlauf zulässt.
Zwischen den Jahren bzw. zum Jahresbeginn werden wir unseren Tourplan für 2021 auf Vordermann bringen und veröffentlichen. Denn auch nach all den Rückschlägen der letzten Monate sind wir optimistisch geblieben, dass zumindest ab Sommer 2021 wieder Konzerte möglich sein werden.
Zum Ende dieses gebrauchten Jahres wünschen wir euch von ganzem Herzen schöne Weihnachten, einen guten Rutsch und alles Gute für ein hoffentlich besseres Jahr 2021. Vielleicht kommen wir ja bei diesem so besonderen Weihnachtsfest dem Geheimnis von Weihnachten mehr auf die Spur, als in all den Jahren zuvor? Das ist es, was wir euch und uns wünschen!

„Merry Christmas and all the best for the New Year“ – for 25 years we have been addressing this wish to you shortly before Christmas. We admit: Over the years, it’s become a friendly routine that we haven’t thought too much about. But the year that is coming to an end has shown us relentlessly that old certainties and routines cannot be taken for granted, but can be abruptly broken.
First of all, we hope that you and your loved ones are well. That, too, cannot be taken for granted, especially in these times. And even if you have been spared from the virus so far, quite a few of you have probably reached the limits of your endurance. Be it at work, in childcare or due to existential and future fears.
Much of this has affected us as well, after the plug was abruptly pulled on the entire event industry in March. Our anniversary year, for which we had planned several highlights, shrank to a single small sign of life: The livestream broadcast in May from the Colos-Saal in Aschaffenburg. In fact, we’ve only seen each other as a band on screens since then. Frustrating.
Nevertheless, we are aware that we are complaining at a very high level and that we are still much better off than the majority of people on this planet. And in the meantime, politicians have also recognized that culture definitely has its system-relevant aspects – and not just in economic terms. Now that culture is so sorely lacking for all of us, perhaps we are only really recognizing its relevance. It is important for societies and their people, for balance, for the soul, for a carefree letting go, as a challenge for heart and mind, as an answer, as a help in difficult times. Perhaps culture is even something that gives rise to civilization in the first place?
We would like to thank all those who have supported the culture in what was perhaps its most difficult year. Who did not return their tickets, who donated, who supported artists by buying albums or merchandise. All of this help was extended to us as well. But it was also the words of encouragement that reached and still reach us through the whole year in the most diverse ways. This solidarity has deeply impressed and strengthened us. Once again, we would like to thank you very much!
Even though the pandemic is hitting us harder than ever before, the numbers will probably peak at Christmas, we are on lockdown for an indefinite period of time and disturbing reports from hospitals and mutations dominate our daily lives – there is hope on the horizon. The vaccine is arguably the most important weapon we have in our hands against the virus. It could be the key to the door marked „exit“. Out of this leaden time, into a life worthy of the name again.
There is still a long way to go. Up to and including May, all our concerts have been cancelled or rescheduled (you can find an overview here) – with one exception: On April 10, 2021, we will play a seated concert in the Stadthalle Soest with a hygienic concept and distance – if the further course of the pandemic allows it.
Between the years or at the beginning of the year we will update our tour schedule for 2021 and publish it. Because even after all the setbacks of the last months we remain optimistic that at least from summer 2021 concerts will be possible again.
At the end of this used year we wish you with all our heart a Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year and all the best for a hopefully better year 2021. Maybe we will find out more about the secret of Christmas at this so special Christmas than in all the years before? That is what we wish you and us!
